Funky folks
She hecheyanu. We have arrived. After two long - very long - days of sitting, movies and games we have arrived tonight at Bali. Actually we received a very warm welcome - mostly in the meteorological sense of the word. It's 8 pm and still well above 30 degrees.
Getting here was special. Already in Zurich we realized that we were smart enough to have forgotten our camera in Zurich. Bravo. Gotten to Paris we realized that the libyan part of the luggage had gotten lost. For long 90 minutes (Luzern, kaennsch) we were discussing and arguing with Mrs. Baguette-Air France how to proceed as we were to continue with a different airline (actually two). After which a solemn co-worker of her easily walked into the office with the missing backpack over his shoulders. Okay, done.
We then stepped on a very full airplane to Doha with mostly french tourists going to hike in the Himalaya. Service was great, you could choose between a zillion of movies, tv-shows and free drinks as long as you felt. We then arrived in Doha, very unspectacular airport, looks like a hub in the middle of the desert with a very substantial difficulty to figure out where all these people actually came from. All the shades of grey present.
At 1 am we then stepped onto another Qatar Airways-plane, service even better, managed to sleep in a way too short night as we were flying directly against the sun. But obviously we still managed to shluff. The rest of the time was spent between working through old newspapers-articles, playing who wants to be a milionaire and starting very doubtful movies (mostly abandoned after a few minutes). Therefore it made little difference that we realized on the plane that there was going to be another stop of an hour in Kuala Lumpur without getting out of the plane...
Now we're in Bali. There is a shortage of light, everything looks quiet oddly dark (there is an ongoing dispute between Judith and me whether there can be Internet with only generators working...). It looks very friendly, lots of cute restaurants and shops and chilling tourists. Tomorrow around lunch we are taking another flight (we miss the feeling of flying already) to get to Maumere. A couple of days of diving and then we hit the road back to Bali, stopping here and there according to our daily moods...
